OKLAHOMA CITY – Southwestern Christian University came just short of knocking off top-seeded Mid-America Christian in the NCCAA Central Region Tournament Saturday at the Gaulke Activity Center.
The Lady Eagles (16-15) fell to MACU 85-76 for the third time this season.
SCU trailed by 13 points early in the fourth quarter but put together a 16-7 run and cut its deficit to 68-64 with 4:07 remaining.
SCU got back-to-back buckets from Janz and Eliora Johnson to cut the deficit to four points again with less than a minute left to play.
After a MACU 3-pointer, Janz hit a triple of her own with 22 seconds to go to keep SCU within four points of the lead.
MACU converted 7-of-8 from the free-throw line in the game's final 20 seconds and held off the Lady Eagles for the 85-76 victory.
Janz led SCU with 21 points on 6-of-10 shooting from the 3-point line. She also snared three rebounds on the afternoon.
Johnson added 16 points and seven rebounds and shot 7-for-11 from the field against MACU.
Andi McGill chipped in 12 points, four assists and three rebounds. Hadley provided 10 points and five rebounds.
Makenzie Janz tallied nine points off the bench.
