EL DORADO, Kan. — Southwestern Christian University's Dallas Bruns, Tyshael Friday and Kaleb Graham each posted a top-5 finish in their respective events Saturday at the Butler Country Grizzly Invitational.
Bruns, a senior from Brownfield, Texas, finished second in the women's triple jump with a final leap of 11.41 meters. Friday, a freshman from Oklahoma City, finished fourth in the women's javelin throw with a toss of 34.35 meters.
on the men's side, Graham, a freshman from Yukon, Okla., placed fifth in the shot put with a toss of 13.86 meters.
All three performances met the qualification standards for the NCCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
Bruns also finished sixth in the long jump with a final distance of 5.08 meters, and Friday placed ninth in the shot put with a toss of 10.61 meters.
On the track, Alexis Washington posted another NCCAA qualifying mark in the 200-meter dash. The sophomore from Arlington, Texas, finished 16th with a time of 26.60 seconds. Washington had previously qualified for the 200 meters.
Washington also ran in the 400 meters where she led a group of Lady Eagles in ninth place. Freshman Deisy Borunda, of Aurora, Colo., followed in 13th, Shawntel Gaines, a freshman from Oklahoma City, finished 16th and Sarah Barnett, a freshman from Vanoss, Okla., finished 17th.
Freshman Dante McDowell, of Tahlequah, Okla., finished 15th in the shot put. McDowell also finished 11th in the discus with a throw of 37.15.
Graham also competed in the discus and finished 20th.
On the track, Cullen Bennett, a junior from Oakland, Calif., placed 13th in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 16.33 seconds and 14th in the 400-meter hurdles in a time of one minute and 4.03 seconds. Bennett has already qualified for the NCCAA national meet in the 110-meter hurdles.
Freshman Corey Hill, of Newcastle, Okla., finished 12th in the 400 meters in a time of 54.46 seconds. Hill also ran the 200 meters and finished 23rd.
