OKLAHOMA CITY – Southwestern Christian University picked up a wild 3-2 win over Mid-America Christian at the Gualke Activity Center Friday in a match to benefit Hurricane Harvey relief efforts.
After dropping the fourth set 25-20, Cashlyn Munroe threw down kills No. 22 and 23 of the night to close out the final set 15-12 in favor of SCU.
Munroe paced the Eagles (6-1) with a game-high 23 kills. Munore also finished with 22 digs in five sets.
It was announced Wednesday that the Eagles and Lady Evangels would team up to help raise funds for disaster relief in the Houston area since both squads were scheduled to compete in a tournament in the city this weekend. According to macuathletics.com, the match raised nearly $1,385 to help aid Hurricane Harvey victims.
The Eagles will open Sooner Athletic Conference play at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 5, when they take the short trip to Abe Lemons Arena to face Oklahoma City.
