OKLAHOMA CITY — Southwestern Christian University turned in a score of 291-301—592 and sat in sixth place after the first day of the U.C. Ferguson Classic at Lincoln Park Golf Course.
The Eagles finished the first two rounds ahead of Central Baptist (Ark.), Mid-America Christian, Central Christian (Kan.) and Southwestern Christian B.
Tournament host Oklahoma City held the team lead after the second round. Bellevue (Neb.) and Kansas Wesleyan sat in second and third respectively.
Freshman Scotty Alexander, of Mustang, Okla., paced the Eagles with a score of 71-75—146 and tied for 16th individually.
Junior Taylor Nichols, of Idabel, Okla., carded 74-78—152, while Jack Laine-Willey, a sophomore from Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, rounded our the top-5 with a score of 79-76—155.
The Eagles will return to action in the third and final round of the U.C. Ferguson Classic at 8 a.m. Tuesday at Lincoln Park Golf Course in Oklahoma City.
