The Lady Eagles finished third in the tournament, placing them at second overall in the SWIBC Conference

The Southwestern Christian University men's and women's bowling team finished their second conference tournament on Saturday, October 29th, competing in the SWIBC II Tournament in Dallas, Texas.

The Lady Eagles finished third in the tournament out of a total of eight teams. Christie Koonce paced the Lady Eagles, finishing fifth out of 45 women competing in the tournament to make the All-Tournament Team. The Lady Eagles now sit in second place overall in the SWIBC Conference and with only two more conference tournaments this year, there is a good chance the women could work their way up into conference champions.

"Our ladies fought hard for the entire tournament," commented Head Coach Shaun Koonce. "We fell behind early in the position rounds, leaving a lot of ground to cover. We came back and won 12 of the last 16 games, which is really hard to do. We made up over 300 pins to seed us second coming out of the position rounds, but ended the day in third place. With the fight and determination of these ladies, we are looking forward to going into our final two conference tournaments and making a move for the Conference Championship."

On the men's side, the Eagles garnered a seventh place finish out of 17 total teams.

"We hung in and never gave up which led us to hold on to our seventh place finish," stated Coach Koonce. "A seventh place finish put us one spot out of placing in the tournament. We have shown great improvement through the first half of the year and look forward to the second half of the season."

The SWIBC II Tournament concludes the bowling events slated for the fall semester. The Eagles and Lady Eagles will resume their season on January 14th, competing in the SWIBC III Tournament in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
