Bartlesville, Okla. - Feathers were flying in Bartlesville on Tuesday evening as Oklahoma Wesleyan defeated the Southwestern Christian University men's basketball team 86-84 in a come-from-behind MCAC thriller.

Troubled with injuries and foul trouble, Southwestern Christian (8-7; 1-2 MCAC) blew their seventeen-point lead in the second half that allowed Oklahoma Wesleyan (9-9; 2-1 MCAC) to tie the game and eventually claim the victory in overtime in thrilling fashion.

SCU opened the game on all four cylinders, shooting 64.3 percent from the field to go hand-in-hand with their tireless defensive effort that held OKWU to 38.5 percent shooting and 13 turnovers. Marc Traylor put up 14 first-half points to help the Eagles to a sixteen-point lead going into the break.

The second half started much like the first with Southwestern staying in control of things, leading 58-41 with just over 12 minutes left to play.

Oklahoma Wesleyan capitalized on SCU's key players being out of the game with injury or foul trouble, however, and they slowly chipped away at the Eagles' lead. OKWU eventually tied things up at 64-64 and took the one-point lead off a free-throw from Rodrick Ogletree with just over two minutes remaining in the game.

Keenan Seahorn put SCU back on top with a bucket in the paint and point-after attempt. Glenn Irwin added cushion with two free-throws at the 1:50 mark, giving SCU the 69-66 advantage, but Wesleyan's Steven Cooks sunk a three-pointer a minute later to knot the game at 69-69. Ray Hilliard grabbed an offensive board and scored two on the put-back to put SCU up by two points with 30 seconds left, but once again, OKWU answered with a lay-up by Caleb Gentry that sent the game into overtime.

The battle continued in overtime as the teams traded buckets for several different lead changes. Wesleyan pulled ahead 85-82 for the largest lead of overtime with 30 seconds left to play. SCU's Jordy Harris hit a jumper with eight seconds left to bring the Eagles within one, followed by a foul that sent OKWU's Julian Peters to the free-throw line. Peters missed the first attempt but nailed the second to give the home team the 86-84 lead - and SCU the ball - with seven seconds left. With one second remaining, Seahorn made an outstanding effort for the three-point game-winner, but the shot was no good and Oklahoma Wesleyan ended the game as victors.

Both teams were fairly equal across the board as SCU shot 48.4 percent from the field with 34 rebounds and 21 turnovers and OKWU shot 47 percent from the field with 33 rebounds and 18 turnovers.

Seahorn led Southwestern in scoring with 17 points and Traylor and Hilliard each added 14 points.

Southwestern now sits in at fifth in the conference with a 1-2 record as Oklahoma Wesleyan improves to third with a 2-1 record.

The Eagles will open their home conference schedule this weekend, hosting Bellevue University (15-4; 3-0 MCAC) on Friday evening at 7:30pm and York College (9-10; 2-1 MCAC) on Saturday evening at 5pm.
