Bethany, Okla. - The Southwestern Christian University men's basketball team dropped to 1-3 in conference play on Friday night at the Pickens-Springer Gymnasium after falling 81-56 to the NAIA Division II's seventh ranked Bellevue University.

The Eagles shot out to a 13-6 lead in the first five minutes of action. The Bruins (16-4; 4-0 MCAC) took things over with 14 minutes remaining in the first half though, going on the lead 40-27 at the half. 

Bellevue continued to pour it on in the second half as the top team in the MCAC went on to defeat the Eagles 81-56. 

The Eagles shot 34.5 percent from the field, 20 percent from the three-point line, and 71.4 percent from the charity stripe. 

Tyler Averill led SCU with 18 points while Glenn Irwin added 15 points and six boards. 

The Bruins shot 47.8 percent from the field with the majority of their points coming from the paint. Richard Shepherd led all scorers with 24 points, James Parrott added 18 points, and Austin Bowen recorded a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. 

The Eagles will be back in action at the Pickens-Springer Gymnasium tomorrow afternoon, tipping off with the York College Panthers (9-10; 2-1 MCAC) at 5pm.
