Men's Bowling - Tue, Sep 21, 2010

Houston, TX. - The Southwestern Christian University bowlers traveled to Houston, Texas this past weekend to compete in the SWIBC Fall Singles Classic. The participation marked the first time SCU has competed at a bowling tournament since the NAIA's decision to try and elevate bowling to a championship sport.

The tournament, held at Houston's Palace Lanes, began with the contestants bowling four initial games in order to seed the bowlers accordingly. From there, the bowlers went head to head in competition.

Three SCU bowlers finished in the top 20 at the tournament which consisted of 26 women and 44 men. Freshman James Bunyard earned a 3rd place finish on the men's side while freshman James Perkins dropped in at 16th. For the women, freshman Christie Koonce racked up a 5th place finish.

Next up for the bowlers is the SWIBC 1 Tournament on October 2nd. The event will be held in Amarillo, Texas.
