Coach Parent will begin his 45th year of coaching Cross Country and Track in the 2011 season. He launched his coaching career in 1966 in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma before going on to coach at several other high schools around the state of Oklahoma, including Verdigris, Perry, Putnam City West, and Heritage Hall. In 1979, Parent was named the Head Cross-Country/Track Coach at University of Central Oklahoma where he remained until 2001.
It wasn't until 2004 that Coach Parent landed at SCU. Parent was given the task of developing the institutions first cross-country & track and field program. In the spring of 2007 the ladies team finished 9th at the NCCAA national track & field championships. That same year, he also produced his first national champion in SCU history. Coach Parent now enters his eighth season as reigning head coach and continues to watch his empire become more and more successful.
Coach Parent received his undergraduate and graduate degrees from Northeastern Oklahoma State University before and is married to Pat Parent of whom he has three wonderful children with, all of whom teach and coach throughout the state of Oklahoma.
