The SCU men's tennis team traveled to Salina, Kansas, on February 10th, to take on the McPherson Bulldogs. In double's matches Ali Sandercock and Will Long lost a hard fought battle 8-5 to their Bulldog opponents. In the other two matches, Brandon Patterson and Seth Vicchio lost 8-2, while Matt Franks & Isaiah Island, and were shut out 8-0 by the McPherson duo of Bukatin and Dullaghan.
In the singles matches the Eagles continued to struggle making lots of unforced errors. SCU Coach Jenny Marcos states "we are making progress, but we are very young and have a lot of work to do. It's a long season and we hope to improve each time we take the court." In the singles matches, Brandon Patterson lost 6-1, 6-0, Matt Franks lost 6-2, 6-2, Isaiah Island lost 6-1, 6-3, Ali Sandercock lost 6-2, 6-2, Seth Vicchio lost 6-1, 6-0, Will Long lost 6-0, 6-0, and Cameron Leggett lost 6-1, 7-6.
The Eagles will play again on March 5th, as they travel to Kansas once again to take on Kansas Wesleyan University.
SCU Tennis Coach, Jenny Marcos is excited to announce the signing of Andrew Hardwick, a lefty from Naaman Forest High School in Garland, Texas will be joining the Eagles this fall. Coach Marcos states, "Andrew has a big serve to go with his all around game. He will be a great addition to our team in the 2013-2014 season.
The men's tennis team competed in the ITA Regional Championship on September 28th-29th in Shawnee, Oklahoma.
